- About the Team
Q. Who are you guys, anyways?
A. We are a group of Total Annihilation and Star Wars fans from around the world working on a conversion for TA that will replace all the elements of the existing game with Star Wars related ones. Sounds cool, huh?Q. So who's on the team?
A. These are the current members of the SWTA team:HANSOLO: Unit R&D, 3D modelling, animation, AI and general all-round TA knowledge.
E-mail: hansolo@planetannihilation.comElement 115: Newsmaster, map maker, and lead producer.

Q. 'From around the world'? Where are you from?
A. HANSOLO and Element115 live in the United Kingdom; Influenza lives in the United States of America; and Kamikaze lives in Holland.Q. Can I become a member/beta tester?
A. We are currently not looking for additional members. Also, we do not release public betas of our packs; they all undergo extensive, internal testing prior to release. That testing very often includes many of our fans who frequent our IRC channel; if you'd like to test an upcoming pack, IRC is the place to be!
Q. Who is the coolest SWTA member?
A. Definitely Influenza. Who else would spend 30 hours of his life compiling this document in Word, only then to port it to an HTML document from scratch? ;-) - Unit Questions
Q. Will capital ships be in the game?
A. This is probably the most 'Frequently Asked Question' as people seem desperate to command Star Destroyers. However, we have decided not to include capital ships for the following reasons:- With the current scale, a Star Destroyer would be about two screens long. That would slightly exceed practical length, not to mention the game's maximum unit length. We also decided scaling down the model would make it unrealistic.
- Why would Star Destroyers be flying around in the atmosphere of a planet? Technically, Victory Class SD's are the only ones that can enter a planet's atmosphere; but then why would they bother when they could bombard the planet's surface from space?
- The above points focus on Star Destroyers, but generally the points are the same for most Capital ships.
Those individuals intent on using Star Wars capital ships should check out the Antirral Royal Engineers at http://www.planetannihilation.com/are. They are developing the Star Wars Total Annihilation: War in Space conversion, featuring capital ships and inter-planetary fighters.
Q. Where are the AT-AT's (or any other unit)?
A. SWTA is an ongoing project. Not all units are completed yet, most noticeably the AT-AT and X-Wing. Rest assured that these units will be in the final version of SWTA. It's just a matter of time before they're added.Q. Why are there pictures of units that haven't been "completed" yet?
A. Many units were modeled in the past, when productivity was low and members generally did their own thing. Those pictures are of those older units. We are busy remaking many of those units and balancing them, which takes a very long time.Q. What's next on the release list?
A. Imperial Droids and Rebel Commandos are scheduled to be released next. A mini-pack may precede them however with some miscellaneous units cut from the Walker Pack. - General Questions
Q. Is Core Contingency required?
A. The Core Contingency is the official expansion pack to Total Annihilation. It is not needed as long as you have the Cavedog v3.1 Patch installed. However, it is highly recommended, if only for the dozens of maps it provides.Q. Why can't I play a SWTA campaign?
A. Campaigns are not supported right now with SWTA. We may eventually release a campaign, but doing so would require that all the units be done and released. Campaigns will thus be the last portion of SWTA to be released.Q. Why can't I use Third-Party maps with SWTA?
A. In order to avoid conflicts with user-installed Third-Party units and addons, SWTA uses its own file format. Where TA files end in either .ufo, .hpi, or .ccx, SWTA files end in .swx. The SWTA executable will only read files that end in .hpi, .ccx, or .swx. To use non-Cavedog maps with SWTA, rename the files to end in a .swx or .hpi (if you still want to use them in TA) extension.
Q. Did you guys know this and that and this about Star Wars?
A. Yes. All members of SWTA are very big fans of Star Wars, which is why we're taking part in the project. We guarantee that, between the four of us, we know every possible tidbit of Star Wars trivia we need to make the game :).Q. So you even know the exact number of laser shots fired in all 5 Star Wars films, and who fired them?
A. Yes.
