Ph33r
the pixies.
Well we got kinda a new layout thing going on here,
although the server is being a pain in the ass
"uncooperative" and keeps reverting to the old
sidebar and index html's so bear with it. I personally
never liked all those frames on the old site, I think
this way looks a lot neater.
So have you recently downloaded the new Starter Pack and
thought "Well I'd really like to give that a go
multi-player", well help is at hand Fes2001 has
started the SWTA Clan site over at GBL.
Anyway stay tuned for the details of the next
pack
also have your views about fighter's weaponry
on the bulletin board.

Sorry no milk today.
Sorry peeps no pack today. We thought at the last minute
to update the AI for the pack, unfortunately I didn't
give myself enough time to do it. We also have a small
problem with a phantom corpse. For some reason unknown to
us one of the new models is not leaving a corpse. Corpses
aren't the hardest thing to make and get into game so we
are particularly baffled by this.
However your patience will be rewarded with these extra
items to the previous list:
· New Rebel RepulsorLift factory
· New complete working AI
Hopefully the pack will be out within the next couple of
days, but it depends how long it takes to sort out the
phantom corpse. Here's a couple more pics to keep you
going.

Final Starter pack coming soon.
Although
"coming soon" is some what of our catch phrase
we're gonna make a date so you know quite how soon. So
you will be able to download Final version on this coming
Monday 2nd of July.
Bearing in mind there are relatively few changes so don't
get too excited
here's a low-down though:
· New
Imperial Barracks model
· New Imperial Flame trooper unit
· Refined Imperial Vehicle Plant model
· Few new sounds
· Tie Crawler is now amphibious (Give the Imperial some
chance on maps with water)
· Jiggled many unit stats
· Updated exe
A couple of
other things were suggest, but declined I'll quickly
explain why. The Rocket troopers where going to be given
a ground based missile as well that would be fired by
using the "special" button. This would have
been good because this unit would have given extra punch
for a little micro management. Also would have given the
AI an extra kick as it could fire automatically, unlike a
human player. Sadly though it appears the TA engine
doesn't like units having AA only and regular weapons as
far as we could tell.
It was also suggested to swap the mineral makers for the
ewebs on the build menu. Some people were accidentally
click the mineral makers when they wanted extractors,
because they look quite similar. However we like keeping
all the resource stuff together on one page so
:P
As for the next pack here's a little peak at the Imperial
Shipyard that Han has recently finished
I think it's
particularly cool.

We're still here
Well we took a small vacation from things there, but
we're firing on all cylinders again now, well all one of
them...hey no one could accuse us of being fast workers
;o).
Anyways, the last version of the starter pack should be
released soon, and to be fair not a lot really needed
changing or fixing. However we are probably going to
change the stats/abilities of a few units to make the
balancing of the second pack easier.
Talking about the second pack (which we need a decent
name for, answers on a postcard), work has indeed been
started and completed to a certain extent. We are just
trying to get the balancing right. Basically it's a bitch
trying to make each unit different with the fact that
most Star Wars units firing lasers. Hey we're working on
it.
Incidentally If you have any last requests for the
starter pack or ideas for balancing the units in the next
pack, visit the Bulletin Board.
Well I suppose I better tell you what units will actually
be in the next pack. This list isn't confirmed. Units may
be added or swapped with other ones, but these are most
likely.

Also have you ever wanted to play SWTA multi
player? Well currently TAAL, will be holding a TA tournament soon (with
prizes) and if SWTA receives enough votes in the 3rd
party category a SWTA tournament will be set up as well.
So head over there now for more details.
That's just about it...screen shots of the new pack
coming soon.

And out of nowhere:
Two new units and SWTA for the Mac.
Firstly I'd like thank Iceman for putting the Mac version
together; now there's one more good reason to own a Mac.
Aside from it's pretty colour that is ;o). You can visit
Iceman's website here for the MacPack, I'll be putting it in our
downloads section in a few days.
Now something for everyone
The Rebel T1B and the
Imperial Compact Assault Vehicle. The T1B is another
hovercraft unit, this time equipped with laser, an AA
missile launcher and a shield. The CAV is single man tank
armed with an Anti-Infantry laser. Anyway here to tell
you a little more about the two units it KeZx, who has
been playing with the units for the past week as the
winner of the first SWTA demo recording competition.
CAV:
I must admit that at first I did not see the point of
this unit, it is almost as expensive as the TIE Crawler,
has less armour and a weaker weapon. But I failed to take
into account reload rate and speed, this unit is what the
Flash Tank is to the Arm. Great for taking on small
groups of troops with its fast firing Anti-Infantry
cannon and doing exactly what Flashes are good at,
raiding, this is the tool of choice for quickly
destroying expanding Conn droids and mines.
T1B:
The brother of the T1A, armed with a laser and a heavy
missle launcher (which will really come into its own when
the starfighters are released) this unit is a great
support unit for the T1A with its AA and Anti-Infantry
capabilities, I think the laser should be a bit longer
ranged to really come into a Anti-Infantry role but was
proably given a shorter ranged laser for balancing.
Something interesting to note is that you can shoot its
missle at ground targets with a forced attack something
you can't do with the missle infantry, this is proably
due to the T1B's multiple weapons, there will be some
force attacking going on with this unit methinks. Overall
a valuable addition to the Rebel team.
The famous Egg mystery is revealed! Each time the T1B is
hit a white cloud, like a mushroom or Egg rises from the
unit, this is the shield in action. All in all an
excellent addition to the Rebel side.
