Update

I finally have had time to update ever since summer ended (thank the Lord), and I am a man of few words when it comes to webmastering, so I'll make it short but sweet:

"Well, Cheese has been mighty busy lately with school. I'm sorry I haven't updated lately, but I'm not into webmaster stuff..

Well I'm happy to tell you that the TC is nearly complete. After my break is over, I will work on perfecting the SWTA pack... I have been doing most of the work on units, balancing, and getting the dang thing to work without crashing (which is the hardest and most time-consuming thing I've ever done on a computer). Now that I'm done with the PSAT today, I might be able to get some work in on the project, but like you said, fall is just too beautiful to spend inside...

I will start back on the project as soon as the missions are complete. The project IS further along than most people think, and I have the latest version which no one else has. As soon as the missions are complete, which the pack is far along enough so reintegration should be a piece of cake, then I will perfect the pack, release the pack to a team of 3 elite TA programmers yet to be determined (e-mail me at obremski@iquest.net to apply with reasons of application and past experience with TA). The mistake I made before was trying to do it all myself and to merely try to fix people's complaints.

I WONT MAKE THAT MISTAKE AGAIN

So I'm declaring HELP WANTED for expert TA programmers. Be ready for "une examen au petit prince de moralite."

So if anyone who is a TA expert, please contact me! Go to the Bulletin Board or contact me. Getting this project done relies on a few of you people to help me. No help means no pack, because I know that you want it perfect. OOne person(me) can't do everything in the unit pack(which I have) and expect it to be perfect. Enough said.

Thanks
Cheese

p.s. go to the units section to see all the units that will be in the pack

Non-Intel Users

I've finally uploaded the non-intel EXE for those of you with AMD or any other chipsets. Simply run the EXE in the same DIR as the you have TA installed...may the force be with you:)

There is actually some stuff going on behind the scenes...I'll try to fill you guys in at the weekend:)

ciao

A few Screen shots to keep you going ;D.

For you viewing pleasure I have put together a few screen shots of SWTA in action.

An A-Wing attacks two AA towers.

An ATAT walker stands guard

"What do you want to be when you grow up son?" (ATAT and ATPT)

A turbo laser being built in a wookie graveyard

C_A_P has started work on some new tiles for the Tattoine tileset, so you'll also see some pics of them soon. Otherwise I'll let you salivate over those screen shots.

Looks like I put a hex on the whole damn thing!

Well since I made the last post about everything going so well, everyone has disappeared! The only person who I've seen on ICQ is Hansolo. I know SpUtNiK has just started going back to Uni so he is probably still settling in, however I have no idea what Cheese is up to. He could be endlessly slaving away on the project (like normal) or taking a well earned break after his effort in getting the beta together, I have no idea though.

The only real news I have is that Flak and Pyro from
TALAB will be joining me in the making of the missions for the game. The story line by No Surrender is well under way and is looking rather sweet; so me and the mission boys are just waiting for the goods now, just like most of you ;).

SWTA hits overdrive!

Ever since the release of the SWTA beta, people have been inspired to get back down to work for this final push to role out what will be the greatest achievement the TA community has seen. Most of the hard work has been done now, and it's just a case of refining and balancing any units that need a bit more attention. There are a few more of the aesthetic issues that need dealing with like the gaf's and some of the in-game screens, but these aren't major problems.

Anyway I'm Element 115 and for those of you that don't know I webmaster a site over at TAU called
T-Total dedicated to maps and missions (sorry couldn't resist the plug). But my part in the project hasn't yet begun as my role is to co-ordinating the single player mission campaign; which will begin once the game has been released.
The new story line is still under production but a few details have been filled in. The story is being based around the time of the original trilogy e.g. episodes 4-6, so even the 'casual' Star Wars fans will have an idea of what everything is leading up to. Also I've recently (10 mins ago) decided that the missions would be linear like TA:K which will mean that you don't play with one side and then just do the missions in reverse with the other. This also means a longer and more detailed story line, we're looking to make a minimum of 10 missions but I'd prefer it to be a bit more :).
So this is where YOU come in I need people to help me make these missions. Applicants MUST have experience with at least TAE but preferably as many TA Map making tools as possible like Annihilator and TAB. Applicants must have an existing portfolio of missions that can be viewed. Still think you have what it takes?
Apply here.

So what happened?

Thanx going out to everyone who turned up at some point yesterday; I really appreciate it. Although not a lot was decided, and nothing momentous occured, I've included a breif summary of the goings on for those who missed out.

  • First half hour or so could have been called 'ISP, Warez and ROM' discussion, seeing that that was all we taked about:)
  • Jer of LD fixed up his experimental 'random hit' code. This means that weapons and other parts can now be blown off of units, to give them a battle-hardened look. What are the practicalities of this? It now means that a lucky shot could blow off the weapons systems of your only surviving ATST, leaving it crippled. This will add a whole new strategic element to SWTA, and make for a pretty cool affect.
  • Pyro of Z-TA has offered his, and other members, support to the project - we never turn down experienced, devoted members!
  • C_A_P arrived right at the end of the chat, and has once again offered his help to the project. If he gets going on this, expect some pretty special maps...
  • The general concensus of the chat was to avoid all Episode I units; as they will ultimately not be comparible in combat to more 'recent' units. It's possible that they may be released after the main project; but don't hold me on that.
  • Much to the agreement of Element115; our chief map/mission maker, the number of missions for each side was recomended as 5. This is mainly because of the download size - we are looking @ 1-2mb PER mission.

Was that it? Anyone who was there at any point, get in touch with me if you feel there is more to be said...

IRC - Tonight

The impression I get is that Thursday's meeting wasn't exactly a storming success, so I hope to see ALL of you guys there tonight. I 'should' be there, along with a few other SWTA members (hopefully).

Nothing much going on in the world of SWTA right now, it's back to college time for me and e115, so we are both real busy with work for that. Still, once we are settled back in, it's back to work!

Wow - an update!

Finally, I have access to the main page again, so expect to see the regular updates that were promised. Now that the excitement of Summer hols are over, it's back to work, which brings me to my next point. SpUtNiK is unfortunately going to have less time to dedicate to the project; as he is starting uni. Thankfully, the responsibilities of updating are not being left solely to me, Element115 will be joining myself (and Cheese?).

Expect to see some changes over the next few weeks - a new site layout and a few suprises. Coupled with the fact that Cheese's BETA truly does rock; things are certainly looking up!

Cya VERY soon,

HANSOLO

IRC - SWTA Meetings

After some serious discussion (well a few lines in an ICQ chat module), we have decided to hold weekly meetings on IRC, open to all SWTA members, fans and enemies alike.

Here are the details:

On EFNet, room #swta.

7pm GMT (that's UK time, seeing myself, SpUt and e115 are all there)

Thursdays (starting tomorrow) and Saturdays

Now I have NEVER used IRC before, so if this doesn't make any sense, please contact me on hansolo@tauniverse.com
